This week’s news in Online Marketing features changes from Google and Bing. Learn more about these updates in our weekly roundup!
Update to Google Algorithm: Google is working on an on-going effort to reduce the amount of spam appearing in search engine results and increase the value of quality results. They are continuing a series of algorithm updates which will more aggressively target spam and protect users from low quality content. Although this algorithm may cause a change resulting in fewer search results displayed, the content will be greater quality for the intended search.
Shopping Assortment Report in Google Merchant Center: Earlier this week, Google announced a new feature for advertisers using the Google Merchant Center for their Google Shopping Campaigns. The Shopping Assortment Report shows the top 100 products in demand that the retailer does not already have in stock. This is really helpful for advertisers who are looking to expand their product offerings and stay up-to-date with consumer demand.
Google Accelerated Mobile Pages: This week, Google announced an open-source project called Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), which is a way to make web pages load faster on mobile web browsers. Faster loading pages is a great thing for users, however this may create more challenges for advertisers looking to include ads on these pages.
