Facebook Offers, which debuted earlier this year, offer brands a free way to market their business through deals and specials. Once a Facebook user claims an offer on the social network, they receive an email which lets them redeem the deal at the brand’s physical location. While this offer was only available to large brands and those that advertised on Facebook initially, it is now open to smaller and local businesses who don’t advertise as well!
Creating a Facebook offer is simple, just go to the sharing tool at the top of the Timeline for your page, and select Offer:
- Create a headline
- Choose an expiration date
- Upload a small image
- Describe the terms and conditions
- Post the offer!
To make the most of this service, Facebook recommends that brands include substantial discounts or offers to really entice users to claim the deal. Terms and conditions should be kept simple and users shouldn’t have to do too much to have to redeem the offer. While Facebook encourages brands to use Facebook Advertising to make the most of the offer, the new Timeline feature allows you to simply pin the offer to the top of your Timeline, maximizing the views it receives.
Facebook Offers give brands the opportunity to reach and provide value to their fans and customers in a simple, straight forward way. Once an offer is claimed, that activity is posted to a user’s Timeline and Facebook members have the chance to share the offers with their friends. This is a great way to increase your page’s popularity and be seen by new Facebook members you wouldn’t have reached previously.
