During the past several days, there has been great panic among search engine optimizers and their clients because Google is cracking down on unethical SEO practices to manipulate search results. The abuses by other search engine marketers are too widespread for this to continue. Many have noted for some time that Google’s quality of search results has suffered.
E-Power Marketing is thrilled that Google is doing this. It is overdue. E-Power’s original content is often scraped, better known as plagiarism, by sleazy Websites who try to gain search visibility without doing real work. When I analyze other Websites and their search engine optimization, I see many have achieved link popularity with links on garbage Websites that are nothing but ads or scraped content. Finally Google is cracking down on these practices.
The results of Google’s changes are that E-Power’s clients are enjoying better search positions. We have a long-time client in the commercial leasing business – Tiger Leasing. That is a brutal market where there are many search engine optimization games being played. This client has long enjoyed excellent search visibility. Today’s search position report was even better with new Google #1 and 1st page search positions. The client is now #1 on Google for “medical leasing” which is our client’s most desirable market because it has plenty of demand and the prospects tend to have good credit reports.
If you see your Google search positions recently dropped or drop in the near future, then you need to ask hard questions to those implementing your search marketing. Ask for examples of links they established from other Websites, then look at them. Do you want to be associated with such a Web page? What is being done to add quality content to your Website and Blog? Is it original content worthy of your organization? Or is the content tepid?
If you do not receive answers that satisfy you, it is time to make changes. Google is changing. If you are on the wrong side of Google’s changes, you need to adjust your program quickly or fall behind the competition.
