Use [CITY, STATE] where it makes sense to
As Google crawls through your site’s content, it looks for certain keywords that are relevant to the user. Adding your city and state, where it makes sense, tells Google to show your content to users in that specific area.
Add in region terms
Each area has a specific regional term which many locals use. Using these phrases gives you a little extra local advantage. Some examples of regional terms could be the Fox Valley, the Driftless Area (southwestern portion of Wisconsin), the Midwest and so on.
Write local posts
You don’t need to be a part of the tourism bureau to write about local spots and events. Brainstorm ideas on what can be relevant to your industry in your area, whether it be events or certain areas of interest. The options are endless as long as you are adding value to your reader’s search inquiries.
Use Google My Business
By having a Google My Business (GMB) account, you give your business an extra boost in searchability by adding it to Google Maps. Here you can add all the information your customers may search for like hours of operation, contact information and updates. Using the GMB posts, you can let your customers know about special promotions, events and more. Future customers can check out reviews on your GMB profile as well. A higher rating helps entice customers to visit your business.
Don’t forget about Facebook
Just like GMB, Facebook offers reviews, contact information, hours and business updates. Many people use Facebook to recommend and search for local businesses.
